Interactive membership of this site is now available through a scheme known collectively as Friends of Walney. A valid e-mail address is all that's required in order to register. That e-mail address will never be made public, and will never be used for anything other than Friends of Walney account administration purposes. The scheme is totally free of charge, and potential subscribers can chose from any one of four seperate registration levels as follows:
Basic Membership: Registering at this level allows logged-in visitors to add comments to any image in any photo gallery. It also allows them to access the high quality download area and all audio and video programmes installed on Radio Free Walney.
For more information see Friends of Walney > Basic Membership.
Calendar Accounts: Written with local Club Secretaries and Event Organisers in mind, our public calender accounts make announcing such events simplicity itself. The owner of a Friends of Walney Calendar Account simply logs-in, goes to the Calendar, and clicks "edit" (on the day of their choice) to make an announcement. All Basic Membership priveledges are automatically included with this type of account.
For more information see Friends of Walney > Calendar Accounts.
Photo Gallery Accounts: All Friends of Walney Photo Galleries are privately owned and need not necessarily have the same copyright conditions as the site's main galleries. Owners of a Photo Gallery account will have an interest in documenting specific aspects of local life and are given access to utilities which allow them to upload images directly into their gallery for viewing by the public. All Basic Membership priveledges are automatically included with this type of account.
For more information see Friends of Walney > Photo Gallery Accounts.
Radio Presenter Accounts: A Friends of Walney Radio Presenter Account holder uploads m3p audio files in much the same way that images are sent to a Photo Gallery account. Once uploaded - audio play lists can be created which link and serve selected files to the public in wide variety of ways.
For more information see Friends of Walney > Radio Presenters Accounts.
Once a Friends of Walney account holder has produced demonstrably worthwhile output with the function they signed up for, they may apply to have access to other Friends of Walney functions applied to the same account. This would enable (for example) local DJ's to not only have their own programmes on Radio Free Walney, but also to announce live events such as pub and club nights in the calendar. Local photographers might also be interetsed in adding direct links to audio tracks from their gallery or slideshow, or maybe using the events calendar to announce their intended coverage of a local gala or festival. How you use and combine Friends of Walney accounts is entirely up to you, and comments on it's future development are always eagerly welcomed.
