Interactive membership of this site is now available through a scheme known collectively as Friends of Walney.
Important: All Friends of Walney accounts require vadidating via a valid e-mail address. Account requests which have not been validated within 7 days of registration will automatically be removed from the system or downgraded to Basic Membership status.
Please select the type of account you are most interested in now and use the site's feeback link to contact the webmaster later should you ever require additional functionality adding to your account.
Gallery Comments/Radio Listener/Downloads: Registering at this level allows logged-in visitors to add comments to any image in any photo gallery. It also allows them access to access the high quality downloads area and all audio and video programmes installed on Radio Free Walney.
To register for one of these accounts Go Here.Photo Gallery: All images in the UsersUploads galleries are privately owned and do not necessarily have the same copyright conditions as the galleries which are maintained by the site's owner. Owners of a Friends of Walney Photo Gallery account will have an interest in documenting specific aspects of local life and are given access to a utility which allows them to upload images directly into their gallery which can then be viewed by the public.
To register for one of these accounts Go Here.Public Events Calendar: Written with local Club Secretaries and Event Organisers in mind, our public calender accounts makes announcing such events simplicity itself. The owner of a Friends of Walney Calendar Account simply logs-in, goes to the Calendar, and clicks "edit" (on the day of their choice) to make an announcement.
To register for one of these accounts Go Here.Radio Free Walney: A Friends of Walney Radio Presenter uploads m3p audio files in much the same way that images are sent to a Photo Gallery account. Once uploaded - a play list can be created which links and serves selected files to the public in a manner similar to the site's Golden Oldies and Podcaster play lists. Programme content can be 100% user-generated to produce documentary style programmes, or they may consist of many short sound clips introducing (for example) specific songs in the A-Z of Great Pop or the Podcaster Playlist - in which case the presenter would come accross as a DJ.
To register for one of these accounts Go Here.Once a Friends of Walney account holder has produced demonstrably worthwhile output with the function they signed up for, they are welcome to apply for access to additional Friends of Walney functions. This would enable (for example) established local DJ's to not only have their own programmes on Radio Free Walney, but to announce their own live events such as pub and club nights in the calendar well ahead of the date. Local photographers might also be interetsed in adding audio tracks to their slideshows, or using the calendar to announce their intended coverage of a local gala or other event. How you use and combine friends of Walney accounts is entirely up to the individual concerned and comments on it's future development are always welcome.
